at long last, the Quabbin is back to six teams for 2024

 

In the late afternoon hours today, the Quabbin Valley Baseball League Board unanimously approved the expansion of the league to add the Reds as its 6th franchise. The Reds will be headed up by Mike Afflitto as team manager with Mike Prattico serving as assistant manager. League President Greg Scibelli would like to thank the league board and its members for securing this 6th franchise to bring the league back to an even amount of teams.

The recruiting efforts are ongoing however, and the league is still looking for new players to join for the 2024 season. If you or anyone that you know would be interested in joining the Quabbin Valley Baseball League, please reach out to any board member, player or visit us on our social media channels for more information.

***REGISTRATION NOW OPEN for 2024 seASON***

The 2024 season registration is now open and can be accessed at the registration link shown at the top of the website. The league would like returning players to register as soon as possible to help with player counts for each team. Returning players should register by March 24. Reserve players can contact any manager or board member for the reserve player code.

***Important Note! - You must create a SportsEngine account in order to access the registration. If you do not have an account, the registration will show "currently not available." Go to the upper right corner of the website (or top of the site if using a mobile device) and click "Sign In." There you will be prompted to fill in login information or create an account. Once signed in, the registration will be available in the registration link on our site.

FEBRUARY MEETING TAKES PLACE

The League board last meet on Sunday, Feb. 18, continuing its preparation for the 2024 season. The next meeting of the league will take place on Sunday, March 24 at 11:40 a.m. at the Hangar Pub & Grill in South Hadley. All are welcome to attend league meetings, especially if you are interested in joining the league. You are free to come, interact with the board, and ask questions.

2024 Season SITE Changes Underway

Sportsengine, which is the engine the league's website utilizes, has made some changes to their statistic, standing, and roster management tools. The League is in the process of creating those formats for 2024.

If you are interested in playing on a team, please contact the league as soon as possible and join our efforts. If you are currently a league player, please reach out to other baseball contacts and spread the word about the league. 

QVO28B

The Quabbin Valley Over 28 Baseball League is an all abilities baseball league open to men and women who are over 28 years of age, or will turn 28 by December 31, 2024. The only stipulation is that the player cannot pitch until the age of 30.

Fee for the League this season is $197.68 which includes the League fee and the transaction fees. You will be charged 2 separate times one for $190 and another for the fees. ($7.68) 

Reserve players will need to register differently. Please contact league officials for instructions on how to register as a reserve player.

THE QVO28B LEAGUE WOULD LIKE TO CONGRATULATE DAN "GUNNER" GENOVESE ON HIS 2020 ELECTION TO THE WESTERN MASS BASEBALL HALL OF FAME

Dan Genovese: A towering figure in regional baseball, he started the Westfield Wheelmen, a team that dressed in replica uniforms of the 1880s and played under the rules of that time. In 2019, at the age of 56, he returned to regular hardball, becoming the everyday catcher for Easthampton Savings Bank, of the Tri-County League.

He also found time to play in two wood-bat leagues and two softball leagues. Genovese is also the author of “The Old Ball Ground,” the story of how baseball evolved in Westfield, and “Rough House,” the story of the early days of professional basketball in the Connecticut Valley;
